The moments held in this small book are collated from Surveilling a Crime Scene, a film that examines the materialisation of non-indigenous life on Miriwoong Country. These threads forge a tapestry that recognises colonisation not as history but as a continuous and present violence, one that is deceptively ordinary.

“The book’s affective transmission is distinct from the film: there is no calm voice for guidance, you are in control of the temporality and the progression of the narrative—the slow unfolding, overwhelming realisation of being implicit to the violence of everyday life.” Foundation for Indian Contemporary Art

The book concludes with an essay by novelist and critic Fiona Kelly McGregor.

The first edition of 60 copies (now sold out) was made on a risograph with midnight blue ink by Matthew Van Roden at Split/Shift Press, Larrakia Country, October 2023. This second edition of 500 was printed offset at Naveen Printers (New Delhi) with the support of Tanvi Mishra, October 2024.
