Shutterbugs is a program for budding photographers aged from 8-14 years who would like to learn more photography in a fun, immersive and practical way.
Taught by experienced photographers, the Shutterbugs program consists of five 2-hour sessions run weekly on Sundays in Terms 2 and 4 in 2026.

Camera basics
In this session we'll explore the basics of how cameras work and make a pinhole camera.
Sunday 18 October
11am – 1pm
Aperture, shutter speed and depth of field
In this session we’ll explore aperture, shutter speed and ISO – what they are and how to use them. We'll practice the art of working mindfully with film and analogue processes.
Sunday 25 October

What makes a good photo?
In this session we’ll explore principles of composition, framing techniques and viewpoints to help understand what makes a good photo.
Sunday 1 November

Art ideas
In this session we’ll explore how themes and concepts inform image making and how images communicate. We’ll create photographic compositions that respond to a series of artworks and art challenges.
Sunday 8 November

Developing film
In this session we'll learn the process of unloading film from an analogue camera and developing it in a developing tank.
