Del Kathryn Barton (1972-)
Del Kathryn Barton is an Australian artist based in Sydney. Her practice spans painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, photography and moving image. Known for her richly layered and emotionally charged visual language, Barton creates immersive worlds where the body, nature and imagination intersect. Her work often transforms fragments of everyday life into dreamlike compositions shaped by intuition, rhythm and saturated colour.
Reoccurring across Barton’s practice are floral forms that merge with the human figure, exploring vulnerability, desire, resilience and transformation. Through the combination of hand-crafted techniques and digital process, she builds complex surfaces that hold intimacy alongside intensity, inviting viewers into psychological spaces where emotion leads and narrative remains open.
