Fourteen’ stems from my wider and ongoing series ‘Weapon of Choice’, which revisits the trauma that I experienced at the age of fourteen. In this zine, I address unspoken topics through my personal perspective using colour, pose, memory and mark making. Despite recent movements to change the stigma against victims of sexual assault, inadequate sex education leaves the vulnerable ill-equipped to confront abuse. Instead, they are faceless and muted by fear, censored and isolated. Silence becomes their shield from a system that too often fails them. – Minami Ivory

CCP.PE.ZINE is a new collaborative publishing initiative from the Centre for Contemporary Photography (CCP) and Perimeter Editions, dedicated to providing a platform for emerging photographic artists to exhibit their work in an accessible zine format. Each zine in the series – launched periodically in pairs – focuses on a single body of work by artists selected by the CCP.

Minami Ivory is a photographic artist based in Tasmania, Australia. Born and raised in Japan, her works centre on issues affecting women in Japanese society.
