This photo-book celebrates Sue Ford’s last major work. Self-portrait with camera (1960–2006) was exhibited as part of Monash Gallery of Art’s exhibition Time machine: Sue Ford (8 April–19 June 2011), the first exhibition of Ford’s work since her death in November 2009. As Helen Ennis’s afterword suggests, photo-books were part of Ford’s practice: the photo-book’s mechanical origins and potential for wide distribution clearly suited her democratic approach to making and circulating art.
Exhibition catalogue of 47 works with essay by Helen Ennis.
‘Self-portrait with camera’ (1960–2006) is a series of 47 Polaroids, test prints, gelatin silver prints printed by the artist, and prints made posthumously from original negatives and digital files.
